Summary

If you've inherited an Excel workbook, you know the frustration of trying to figure out what the workbook's designer was thinking when they put it together. You may be experiencing the unhappy results of changing something over here and watching something break over there. Every improvement you try to make seems to create different problems. While it is tempting to just throw it out and start over, there may be some valuable information that will be lost forever. Or, you may be transitioning from older to new versions of Excel and wondering whether you can simplify your workbooks by taking advantage of new functionality. Join us for the training program to learn the inside workings of your inherited workbook, and ho to edit it without losing valuable information it holds.

Program Highlights

This 90-minute program will help you navigate through a workbook to discover its underpinnings. We'll cover:

  • Discovering where formulas are and how they're working
  • Tracing precedents and dependents to know what can and can’t be deleted
  • Uncovering conditional formatting schemes
  • Using tools, like Watch Windows and Track Changes to uncover where things are going wrong

Even if you decide to start over, you can use Excel's audit and documentation tools to create a reference file that can help decipher previous files and inform your new design. You will be able to:

  • Diagnose where formulas are failing
  • Correct workbook and worksheet cell references within formulas quickly
  • Identify named ranges and where they might be used
  • Know exactly what you can and can’t delete and keep the workbook functioning
  • Improve and enhance older workbooks to work with today’s more advanced Excel functionality
  • Review macros to see if they can be replaced by native functionality
